Glee Club Presents: New York Young Men's Singing
November 4th, 2011
New York Young Men Sing is an annual event hosted by the Cornell University Glee Club, the men’s choir at Cornell. Knowing that it can sometimes be difficult to be a male singer in high school, we host the event to encourage male students to continue singing not only through high school to but throughout their collegiate and adult lives.Students will arrive at Ithaca College in the morning and rehearse with the Glee Club. After lunch, the students will be taught a song by The Hangovers, the a cappella subset of the Glee Club. After more rehearsal, there will be a concert featuring the Cornell University Glee Club, the Young Men’s Chorus of Ithaca, and then the Glee Club with the students participating in New York Young Men Sing.
“As a member of a high school men’s chorus, it was a really great opportunity to see firsthand that there are opportunities to pursue men’s choral singing in college. Now that I’m in the Cornell Glee Club and on the other side of the event, I fully appreciate just how much participating in New York Young Men Sing opened my eyes to the world of men’s choral singing. I’m glad that we give back in such a manner, it’s important to the longevity of men’s singing everywhere.”-Adam Beckwith ‘14
